Shivamogga: Amid the cool morning breeze, the third edition of the “Bearys Green Run 2025” , organized by Bearys City Centre in memory of Saalumarada Thimmakka, was held on Sunday, with more than a thousand children, adults, and senior citizens and SPECIALLY ABLED members participating and showcasing their love for nature.
Bearys City Centre has been organizing the Green Run every year, and this year too, a 5 km marathon was conducted in remembrance of Saalumarada Thimmakka. The run started from in front of Bearys City Centre on B.H. Road and passed through Karnataka Sangha, DVS Circle, Usha Nursing Home, Lakshmi Talkies, Durgigudi, Nehru Road, and concluded at Bearys premises.
All participants were provided with free T-shirts. Cash prizes of ₹5,000, ₹3,000, and ₹2,000 were awarded to the first three winners respectively. Participation certificates and Medals were distributed to all runners.
Flagging off the Green Run, Mr. K. Nand kumar, Retail Head of Bearys City Centre, said that greenery is our lifeline and must be preserved for future generations. The Green Run was organized to create awareness about environmental protection.
Another key member of Bearys, Mrs. Ayesha Anjum, said that Saalumarada Thimmakka was a true environmentalist, and in her memory, Bearys City Centre will distribute 1,000 saplings free of cost to the public.
The event was attended by City Centre Manager Mohiddin, and prominent personalities including Ismail Kutty, Mohammed Mujir, and Shashikumar Srinivasa Murthy.
The program was compered by Professor Deeksha Kamath from PESIT College.
